I joined Zion soon after my arrival to Medford in October of 1987. I was a member for three years until I left Oregon in August of 1990. It was a very nice church and I enjoyed the warmth that the congregation provided. Pastor Rodin was very helpful in educating me to appreciate my Swedish background in it's relationship to the Lutheran Church. I appreciated his council. I was baptised by him in this church. The church is known for it's many beautiful glass windows.
I would go and talk with Pastor Roden, quite frequently actually. We would talk about theology mostly, sometimes members, issues in the church, etc. He was a good man. Most important to me is that “He was my friend.” The day before I left Medford, I went to see him, to say my goodbyes. He said he wanted to tell me something. He said he considered me “his son”. I told him, that I didn't really know what that meant. He said he wanted me to stay. I said my life isn't here, but I know it's out there, and I have to find it. He handed me a book. Then he said “Remember the Windows”!
